The End of Treatment is in Sight!!!

I am writing from the chemo suite so excited because we just found out the end of treatment is in sight! We met with our oncologist today and she said that after today's chemo we have just 2 more (November 10th and December 1st). Unfortunately those will be full strength and I will lose my hair BUT what is that compared to almost being done with treatment?!!! YAHOO!

As to radiation, I have only 7 more treatments so that ends next Thursday. The treatments to the entire left chest ended last Thursday and now they are doing a "boost" to the incision and then they will do a "boost" to the area they were concerned about that could have been skin cancer (it is gone now). My skin has finally begun to show signs of severe burning but just last week the radiation tech said that "someone from Up Above must be watching out for you" because NO ONE gets this far in radiation treatment with skin looking as good as mine. And we credit all your prayers for that! Again and again we have seen God's hand in our lives and in the treatment of the cancer and others have remarked on that along the way, from the surgeon to the radiation tech. His work in our lives has been evident to others and for that we are thankful!

I am thankful too for my brother visiting us this last weekend from California. He arrived last Thursday and left just yesterday. What a sacrifice it was for him and his family to be here as it was the first time he was away from his 10 month old daughter! He was just what the Doctor ordered. We all had such a great time playing multiple games of monopoly, balderdash and Scrabble. And laugh....we did A LOT of that too! The timing of his visit couldn't have been more perfect as I'm wearing down a bit from the double whammy of chemo and radiation, just feeling a bit more tired, so he kept the kids busy and spent individual time with each of them! What a blessing he is to me and my family. Love ya Richie!! (pictures are on Facebook)

Thanks again for all your love, prayers and friendship during our journey! The double whammy of treatment has left me feeling more tired and feeling more "yucky" and that wears on your emotions. Over the last week I had been feeling that I wanted to stop chemo and just move forward. I am so thankful for my brother and sister and friend Jackie in Virginia who all lovingly encouraged me to press on. And then today's news was heaven sent! So we are continuing to press on!
